When I received the SmartShopper as a gift I was truly skeptical. I thought there was no way this little device was going to make things easier for me. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only does it work, it works great!
I have never seen anything like it before so I didn't really know what to expect. As a busy mom, I am always trying to cut down the time I spend on things like making a grocery list and shopping. It's something you have to do every week, but there are so many other things I would rather be doing with my time. So finding a device that can help me do these chores quicker and easier was a real find.
Simple to Set Up
When I opened the SmartShopper, I had one of the best out-of-box experiences I have ever had with an electronic device. All I had to do was put in 4 AA batteries and it was on and ready to use. That's it.
Easy to Use
It is small, elegant looking, and comes with a built-in magnet so it sticks right to your fridge. There is a large, friendly record button on the front and you simply press the button and speak the name of the item or items you wish to add into the hand-held device. It uses voice recognition to make your shopping list.
Large Library of Items
There are nearly 2,500 grocery items already entered in the device and the user can add their own favorite items or brands easily as well. So far, everything I needed to add to my lists have been in the system. Another very cool feature is the way it groups items by the grocery category it fits into. This allows you to generate a list of items broken out by location in the store. I used to do this by hand, or at least try. Now it does it for me and even puts headings like Fresh Produce or Breakfast Foods, and all of those items are grouped together.
In the box you will find a handy list of the pre-loaded items you can use as a reference if needed. I wanted to add pears to my list but it didn't seem to recognize the word when I said "pears". When I checked the list I realized you need to say "fresh pears" since canned pears was also in the system. Once I saw that I knew to specify for those kind of items. The booklet has dual listings by both category and alphabetical, making it a great reference and easy to use.
Prints the List for You
The unit has an LCD and an embedded thermal printer that actually prints the list right out of the device with the touch of a button. Since the list is printed according to the categories in the grocery store it saves time as you shop. It comes with three rolls of paper and you can easily order more from their website.
Keeps Track of Errands
Another unique feature is the errand list. Before leaving for the store, you can say the errands you also need to run that day, such as bank, car wash, post office, dry cleaners and many more. The errands will be the first category to print on the list followed by your grocery list.
