Panasonic's new Micro Four Thirds system model doesn't have a reflex mirror behind the lens, making it one of the smallest, lightest interchangeable-lens cameras ever. It uses a 12.1-megapixel Panasonic Live MOS image sensor, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder (EVF), and a new, smaller lens mount. Complete with Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 Asph standard zoom (28-90mm equivalent) incorporating built-in optical image stabilization, it weighs a mere 1.28 pounds. Another first for an interchangeable-lens model is that its body is available in a choice of black, red, and blue, to appeal to those stepping up from colorful point and shoots. Other features: electronically controlled shutter with speeds of 60 to 1/4,000 sec plus B; a swiveling, tilting 3.0-inch LCD; live viewfinder; face-detection; a dust-reduction system; and HDMI output to an HDTV.
$799 with 14-45mm lens.
