Tessera Licenses Next-Gen FotoNation FaceTracker to Samsung Electronics

Tessera Technologies has licensed its FotoNation FaceTracker solution to Samsung Electronics. The solution provides high-performance face-detection and tracking capabilities for next-generation digital cameras and cell phones. Red Dot Award Winners

The Red Dot award is a prestigious design prize granted by the German-based Red Dot institute. They bestow a design prize on numerous items from the mundane (fireplaces) to the exotic (there's a prize for tupperware). You can see a list of 2009 winners in the camera and photography section here (left column). The winners include Nikon's D3, Sony's S-Frame, the Flip Mino camcorder, several Sony Cybershot and Handycam camcorders and their A900 d-SLR.
