Sirius Confusion After Satellite Radio Merger

Ok, I'm officially hating on this satellite radio merger between Sirius & XM. Yes, I know, I know, I know, I had long been a proponent of merging the two companies, SIrius and XM, to save both and help ensure a more stable future for satellite radio. I even wrote about the coming merger, in the below post "Sirius & XM Satellite Radio Companies Merge as One."

But after realizing that this merger has now officially killed some of my favorite Sirius statiions -- Sirius Disorder and Backspin, to name just two -- and made finding comparable replacements on the new merged format very confusing, it may be a case of "be careful what you wish for."

Apparently, I'm not the only one. USA Today has an article about the confusion and even some anger that's resulted from the rejiggered channel lineup. Speaking anecdotally, a friend of mine in Texas told me that she's canceling her subscription because they got rid of her favorite Punk channel. (I feel her pain!)

I'm not quite at that level -- I'm still addicted to Howard Stern -- but not at all pleased about losing some of the music stations I love. (They do always say that us satellite radio users are a passionate bunch.) It is rather confusing though and I still need to explore the new stations I got from XM after the merger and see if I can find suitable replacements. Nonetheless, this is sad, annoying, and not at all what I expected when they announced the merger had been approved. Maybe Internet radio really is the future?
