Speaking of OLED TVs -- Panasonic to Sell 40-incher by 2011

Just as I was opining yesterday -- see post below -- that OLED TVs aren't yet ready for prime time, CrunchGear reports that Panasonic has plans to sell a 40-inch OLED TV by 2011, which is waaaay ahead of schedule. According to the CrunchGear piece, Panasonic "intends to use its R&D center in Kyoto as a base for a manufacturing plant solely for OLED panels." The first 20-inch prototype will be produced there with mass production on the 40-inchers starting in 2011 in central Japan. Stay tuned!

OLED TVs - Not Quite Ready for Prime Time

OLED displays have been the talk of the tech industry for at least the last decade but even now I don't feel they're quite ready for prime time. Sure, they're eco-friendy since these super-thin screens contain organic compounds and use 40% less energy than LCD models. Find out more in this AOL story I'm quoted in which picks the "Top 5 Green Products Not to Buy."

Yesterday, I attended just such an event, especially for a Mets fan like me -- a press conference at Shea Stadium to announce the the launch of the "Greatest Moments at Shea Presented by Nikon" fan vote. If you don't live in New York City, you might not be aware but Shea Stadium in Queens -- where the Mets play -- will be...

Pogo Portable Printer -- Polaroid is Back?

Anyone who feels nostalgic for the heyday of Polaroid and instant film, can take heart in a new product that's been getting a lot of buzz -- the Polaroid PoGo mobile printer. I got my hands on an early review unit and filed this Biz Fast Tracker story about the PoGo. As you'll see from the review, I found a lot to like about this 8-ounce printer which makes cute 2x3-inch prints with "sticky backs" using a unique "inkless" system. On the other hand, I also found a lot to dislike about the PoGo, proving that while this wireless printer might...
