USBCell Rechargeable Batteries Charge Up Via Any USB Port
Camera Accessories
London, UK—Moixa Energy Ltd. introduced USBCell AA rechargeable batteries with a built-in USB dongle. The eco-friendly batteries recharge from any powered USB port, at home, on the go, or in the office, for convenience and portability.
USBCells, which can be used just like a normal battery and can be recharged anywhere by plugging into a USB port, are made with NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) “to last for an extensive time period and ensure optimum performance,” according to the maker.
The batteries are engineered to charge to 90% in five hours and charging for one hour provides 50% battery life. Side indicator lights show when the battery is charging, 90% charged and fully charged. The batteries are also said to be reusable for hundreds of times before replacement and eliminate the need for separate charge adapters and cables.
“Traditional rechargeable batteries have never been truly portable as they are dependent on chargers or adapters, and so most consumers prefer single-use alkaline cells,” a company spokesman said. “With USBCell we aim to change this balance by enabling consumers to recharge anywhere, without needing or carrying an external charger.”
