Santa Clara, CA—Roxio, a division of Sonic Solutions, is helping consumers add a new dimension to their personal media with the release of Creator 2011—a digital media suite that offers a feature set for capturing, editing, creating and sharing personal 3D photos, videos and projects.
Roxio Creator 2011 allows users to convert standard 2D digital photos and home videos into 3D, so they may generate immersive, personalized 3D multimedia productions from their existing digital collections. The program also supports emerging 3D formats, including those used in 3D theatrical film releases, as well as 3D-enabled capture devices, computers, HDTVs and accessories. Consumers can import stereoscopic content directly from 3D cameras and other capture devices and then create personalized 3D productions with transitions, titles, effects and a sound track that can be viewed on a PC, a 3D-enabled HDTV or on YouTube.
“We believe strongly that 3D will not only change forever how we experience Hollywood movies, but also reshape and redefine how we capture and enjoy our personal digital media,” said Matt DiMaria, executive vice President and general manager, Roxio. “Creator 2011 is a truly groundbreaking application that offers consumers a gateway to personal 3D and the opportunity to bring a new level of realism to their cherished family memories.”
Consumers can begin to experiment with 3D out of the box without additional investment, using their existing 2D content, a standard computer and monitor, and the anaglyph glasses included in the package. Roxio has also collaborated with ATI, NVIDIA and RealD to ensure Creator 2011 is compatible with the latest 3D-enabled cameras, systems, displays, technologies, formats and 3D glasses.
Also enhanced in this version are a range of video, music, photo, authoring and burning applications, including Roxio Streamer, which turns a PC into a media server by enabling users to securely access their media “from the road” via a browser.
Also new in Roxio Creator 2011 are features and tools to help accelerate and simplify video creation and conversion, and make it faster for users to generate personal photo, DVD and Blu-ray projects. Simple functions have been included for stabilizing shaky home movies as well as rotating video clips between portrait and landscape views. And there’s a new upload-to-Facebook feature and predefined conversion settings for optimal viewing of personal productions on an iPad.
A built-in Learning Center provides dozens of video tutorials and step-by-step instructional guides, including detailed information on how to get the best results when working with 3D content.
Roxio Creator 2011 has an MSRP of $99.99. Roxio Creator 2011 Pro is priced at $129.99 and includes Blu-ray Disc authoring capability ($19.99 value) and a set of additional applications valued at almost $250. Pro includes: Sonicfire Pro for creating custom soundtracks; SoundSoap SE to deliver audio noise reduction for audio and video files; BackOnTrack 4, a hard-drive backup and recovery suite; Roxio Secure Burn for quick, secure backup and disc encryption; and tools for direct editing of HD video on BD-RE. roxio.com
