Lake Success, NY—To provide consumers with a variety of ways to preserve memories through photography, Canon USA announced five Pixma printers with a new Full HD (high definition) movie print feature. In addition, the company introduced two CanoScan LiDE color image scanners.

The Full HD movie print function, compatible with HD Canon EOS and PowerShot cameras, enables consumers to print individual frames of captured movies. “Technology is growing and evolving at a rapid pace, and Canon strives to be at the forefront by offering innovative products that consumers both need and want,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president, general manager, Consumer Imaging, Canon USA. “With a new design improving overall usability along with the inclusion of the new Full HD movie print, the addition of these Pixma models shows Canon’s commitment to providing excellent quality to our customers at an affordable price.”

The Pixma MG5220 and MP495 Wireless Photo all-in-one printers (AiO), MG5120 and MP280 AiOs and the Pixma iP4820 inkjet printer also provide Auto Photo Fix II technology, which helps correct common photo errors and has been improved with enhanced light source recognition and color cast correction. And they are bundled with an enhanced version of Easy-PhotoPrint EX software that now searches for and uses images from Flickr, so consumers can print photos, albums, calendars, layouts and stickers from computers without launching an Internet browser.

Upgrades were also made to Canon’s Easy-WebPrint EX software, including a fit-to-one-page button for printing text and images from websites. It also allows the printing of multiple documents into a booklet format with images inserted into the layouts.

Pixma MG5220 and MP495 Wireless Photo AiOs. Both utilize five individual ink tanks with the ChromaLife100+ ink system and are 802.11n Wi-Fi certified for a faster network transfer rate. Wireless networks can be set up with the press of one button when using a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), and Canon offers its wireless setup support online at usa.canon.com/wirelesshelp.

The MG5220 boasts a max color resolution of 9,600x2,400 dpi and can create a 4x6-inch borderless photo in 20 sec. Its “advanced media handling” with auto-duplex printing and a two-way paper feed help reduce paper usage and the amount of time to complete a project. A 2.4-inch TFT screen and redesigned user interface make scrolling through menus and viewing images quicker and easier than with past models. $149.99.

The MP495 wireless AiO has a max color resolution of 4,800x1,200 dpi and specs say it produces a 4x6 borderless photo in 41 sec. It also employs an auto scan mode that recognizes the type of original, then scans and saves the settings. $79.99.

A new option for smartphones equipped with the Android OS is the free Easy-PhotoPrint (EPP) for Android application, for the printing of images captured with the phone’s camera. For Apple iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users, the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint for iPhone (iEPP) application is also available for free on the App Store.

Pixma MG5120 and MP280 Photo AiOs. These AiOs let users print, copy and scan documents, and they use the ChromaLife100+ ink system. The MG5120 ($129.99) has a max color resolution of 9,600x2,400 dpi, and the MP280 offers a 4,800x1,200-dpi max color resolution. The MG5120 also features advanced media handling options and prints a 4x6 borderless photo in 39 sec. The MP280 AiO ($69.99) produces the same in roughly 43 sec.

Pixma iP4820 Inkjet Printer. This single-function model uses five individual ink tanks working in conjunction with the ChromaLife100+ ink system and prints a borderless 4x6 with 9,600x2,400 dpi in 20 sec. It can also auto-duplex print and has two-way paper feeds. $99.99.

CanoScan LiDE Color Image Scanners

Canon’s two new CanoScan LiDE color image scanners—the LiDE 210 and LiDE 110—are sleek, compact units, with the LiDE 210 being the thinnest Canon scanner to date.

With a maximum color resolution of 4,800x4,800 dpi  for the LiDE210 and 2,400x4,800 dpi for the LiDE 110, both add auto document fix, which helps maintain readability of documents by sharpening and blackening the text, and auto scan mode, which automatically adjusts settings by detecting the type of original being scanned. Both feature an “advanced Z-lid expansion top,” which raises up to 20mm for scanning thick items, in addition to EZ-buttons that allow for copying and creating e-mail attachments or creating PDFs.

Powered through the USB connector in addition to being Energy Star compliant, both scanners have low power consumption. Their estimated selling prices are $89.99 for the LiDE 210 and $59.99 for the LiDE 110.
