Pentax Imaging Premiers X90 Megazoom Digital Camera
Digital Camera Review
Golden, CO--The latest model in Pentax's megazoom digital camera line, the Optio X90, features an extra-wide 26x zoom super-telephoto lens (26-676mm equivalent), longer battery life than its predecessor and an electronic viewfinder. The megazoom is also engineered with a macro mode that focuses less than one inch away.
The 12.1 megapixel X90 also employs an intelligent zoom function that extends the zoom coverage to approximately 162.5 times (4225mm equivalent) without compromising the optical performance of the zoom lens, specs state.
Other key features of the X90 include a 2.7-inch antireflective LCD, auto picture mode for hands-off selection of seven shooting modes, creative manual and priority modes, 11-fps high-speed continuous shooting, and an electronic viewfinder with new diopter adjustment for composing and playback of images and video. The X90 captures HD (1,280x720 pixels) movie clips with movie SR (shake reduction) to minimize camera shake during movie shooting through the use of exclusive software. An HDMI micro terminal for audio/video signal output allows high-res movie viewing on an HDTV.
Additionally, a shooting mode palette for easy selection of a desired shooting mode from 20 different options includes a new baby mode programmed to capture the healthy, lively face of a baby.
The camera provides Triple Shake Reduction technology, which includes a mechanical sensor-shift SR mechanism, digital pixel track and high ISO SR. It also supports Eye-Fi wireless SD memory card connectivity for built-in Wi-Fi capability to transfer photos andvideos from the camera to a computer or an online sharing site, such as Picasaweb, Flickr, Facebook and YouTube.
Pentax Imaging's X90 megazoom ships this month for $399.95. http://www.pentaximaging.com
