Kodak introduced new consumer digital photography products and services developed to making it easier to capture and share “the moment.” Its portfolio of products unveiled at CES in Las Vegas is highlighted by the company’s new Slice digital camera and Pulse photo frame.
“We believe that the real ‘Kodak Moment’ happens when you share,” said Betty Noonan, director and vice president, Business to Consumer Marketing, Kodak. “The simple act of sharing a picture can spark an emotion, encourage a smile, ignite a laugh or even elicit a tear. We put this important element at the forefront of our product designs to help people connect with one another, relive special memories and enrich their lives.”
Kodak’s heritage of “you press the button, we do the rest” continues with advanced capture settings and sharing features in its spring 2010 product lineup, which includes the Slice touch-screen camera, new M-series EasyShare point-and-shoot cameras, the PlaySport video camera and two Kodak AiO inkjet printers.
The Slice touch-screen camera ($349.95 MSRP) is designed to unite the power of photography with the experience of sharing memories. The camera can store up to 5,000 pictures in HD resolution, and using its 3.5-inch 16:9 touch screen, consumers can sort through thousands of pictures by person, place, date or occasion to locate and share a collection of moments with the onboard Kodak Slice search feature and face recognition function.
The camera’s touch screen and share button allow consumers to tag pictures for easier uploading to sharing sites like Facebook, Kodak Gallery, Flickr and YouTube. Pictures can also be tagged to e-mail or to send directly to the new Pulse digital frame.
Other features include: a 14MP CCD sensor; 5x Schneider-Kreuznach optical zoom lens; built-in optical image stabilization; 720p, 30-fps HD video capture; and Kodak’s smart capture feature, which analyzes scenes and automatically adjusts camera settings.
Kodak’s Slice will be available in black, nickel and radish for an MSRP of $349.95 in April 2010. Best Buy will initially be the exclusive retailer for in-store sales. Kodak also introduced a case for the Slice that was designed in a competition among accessories students at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. The final design was chosen by celebrated designer Steve Madden and FIT faculty.
Kodak Pulse Digital Frame: Touch-Screen Enabled, Wi-Fi Connected
The Pulse is a 7-inch touch-screen digital frame equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and a personal e-mail address so consumers can send pictures wirelessly to the frame from a computer, from Facebook and Kodak Gallery sites, or from any device that has e-mail capability, including mobile phones. This allows the Pulse to display a constant stream of new pictures by automatically refreshing when consumers, or their family and friends, add pictures to their albums.
The Pulse also features easy setup with no software to install, 512MB of internal memory to store up to 4,000 pictures, Kodak Color Science technology and LED backlighting. It has an Energy Star qualified power adapter, mercury-free panel and programmable on-off settings to control power consumption. It will be available for an MSRP of $129.99 beginning in April 2010. kodak.com
