FinePix Z800EXR in shell pink
Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm took the wraps off of four FinePix cameras: the FinePix F300EXR with a 15x zoom lens; the Z800EXR with a next-generation EXR sensor and hybrid high-speed autofocus; the S2800HD with high-definition movie capture; and the entry-level JX280 with 14 megapixels.
FinePix F300EXR. Combining a 15x Fujinon super-wide-angle lens (24–360mm equivalent) and Super EBC coating, to keep ghosting and flare to minimum, with Fujifilm’s next-gen EXR technology with “hybrid high-speed autofocus,” the F300EXR is encased in a sculpted black metal shell measuring 23mm thick and sporting a double-coated lacquer finish. It offers a 12MP EXR Super CCD, 3.0-inch LCD, intelligent image stabilization to combat blurring from hand shake and subject movement, 720p HD movie capture and a mini HDMI port.
Its hybrid high-speed autofocus function is said to have the ability to intelligently decide between the two focusing systems on the camera. For example, when a bright, high-contrast subject is positioned in the center of the frame, phase-detection AF works; in dark scenes, contrast AF is employed. Specs state the system achieves an AF speed of 0.158 sec.
With a newly enhanced gyro sensor, the compact’s image stabilization system is engineered to overcome handshake and can compensate for sharp and wide hand movements, therefore increasing ISO to freeze action is no longer so necessary. The camera can also deploy high ISO sensitivity to automatically increase shutter speeds and CCD sensor shift stabilization to counteract hand shake.
Other features include: a sweep range extended to 360 degrees to capture panoramas; pro focus mode (with face detection and recognition), which combines several shots to create a crisp photo of the subject against a defocused background and foreground; tracking autofocus, which allows users to track a moving subject for still picture capture; super intelligent flash, which controls the level of flash to produce balanced illumination across the foreground and background; EXR Auto technology, developed with the ability to switch its behavior depending on the shooting conditions, by automatically switching sensor modes; and photobook assist, which lets users select and organize images in-camera to create a digital photo book. $329.95.
FinePix Z800EXR. With a next-gen 12MP Super CCD EXR sensor and hybrid high-speed autofocus for a 0.158-sec AF speed, this Z-series model features: a 3.5-inch (16:9) touch screen; a Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens (36-180mm equivalent); ISOs to 1600 at full resolution; intelligent image stabilization for anti-blur protection; EXR Auto technology; 720p HD movie capture with sound and HD stills playback at 1,920x1,080; face recognition (plus pet detection) that allows its picture search tool to use data (name, birthday and category) to help find and playback photos; motion panorama 360; photobook assist; and a Facebook/YouTube automatic upload feature.
The Z800EXR’s touch-screen display lets users take and view photos with the touch of a finger and also navigate though menus. A dual-direction GUI detects the orientation of the camera and automatically switches the direction of the menu button accordingly, while dual image display splits the screen to view multiple images at once. And its touch shot feature provides the ability for one touch focus and shooting; after the user taps a focal point on the LCD, the camera automatically sets the appropriate focus and functions, and releases the shutter.
Housed in a full metal chassis, the Z800EXR is 16.9mm thin and sports a horizontal lens cover with a wave detail, which serves as the on/off switch, and an LED “Z” that lights up when the camera is in operation. It comes in black, red, gold or pink. $229.95.
FinePix S2800HD. With 14MP, a Fujinon 18x wide-angle optical zoom (28-504mm equivalent) and a 3.0-inch LCD plus electronic viewfinder, the S2800HD is marketed as a step-up camera that still fits in the palm of a hand. It features: dual image stabilization; 720p HD video capture; a mini HDMI port for connection to a home theater system; compatibility with Fujifilm’s optional HD player kit, which includes an HD card reader that connects to a HDTV via HDMI cable and a wireless remote control; face detection with smile and blink detection; tracking autofocus; motion panorama mode with auto stitch; automatic scene recognition that detects the scene and chooses the appropriate settings automatically; auto picture rotation to ensure photos are always viewed the right way in playback; a picture search tool; and photobook assist. $259.95.
FinePix JX280. This pocketable model provides: 14 megapixels; a 2.7-inch LCD; a Fujinon 5x wide-angle (28-140mm) optical zoom lens; 720p HD movie recording with sound and stills at 1,920x1,080; tracking AF; motion panorama mode with auto stitch; face detection with smile and blink detection; scene recognition auto mode; and photobook assist. Its black metal body is 18.5mm thick. $149.95. fujifilmusa.com
