Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung Electronics Co. added to its point-and-shoot camcorder lineup with the HMX-E10, which offers 1,920x1,080 Full HD (30p / H.264) video resolution and a 270 degree swiveling lens to enhance consumers’ creativity. The lens enables users to add unique views to their video by recording from just about any angle.
“Samsung is focused on introducing features to its camcorders which address unmet needs and take the video recording experience to new levels for consumers,” said Sangjin Park, president of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Imaging business.
To simplify the way consumers share video, Samsung equipped the HMX-E10 with a built-in USB port function that enables them to connect the camcorder directly to a computer without using a USB cable. The USB connection can also be used to charge the battery. And there’s an interactive, on-screen upload button that links to a specified content sharing website, such as YouTube, when the E10 is connected to a computer with an Internet connection.
The E10’s 2.7-inch, wide touch‑screen LCD is set vertically: when recording it is divided into two sections, with the top displaying the live view showing what is in the frame while the bottom displays touch-screen controls, including record, stop and play. Consumers can also rotate the swivel lens to utilize this screen to put themselves in the frame.
Other features include 8 megapixel still image capture and creative control functions such as smart filters that adjust the HMX-E10 to produce unique lens and color effects, including miniature, vignetting (producing the lomo effect), defog and sketch, which gives video a pencil drawing feel.
In addition, the camcorder comes loaded with Samsung’s play‑edit‑sharing software, intelli‑studio. The program gives users the ability to edit and play their video from any computer without having to install supporting software.
Samsung’s HMX-E10 will be available in September in ivory and black versions, each with an MSRP of $199.99. samsung.com
